Drawing from the Past: William Weddell and the Transformation of Newby Hall

Published to accompany the 2004-2005 Leeds City Art Gallery exhibition, this fully illustrated book charts the transformation of Newby Hall, near Ripon, and the work of some of the leading architects of the eighteenth century. Until now, this collection of architectural drawings has remained inaccessible and underappreciated. The aim of this book has therefore been to bring the collection to the attention of the public, with particular focus on William Weddell, whose transformation of Newby Hall according to the designs of Robert Adam still dominates the house.
